Drake’s success at the Brisbane and Perth truck shows

The Brisbane and Perth Truck Shows were a great success for Drake Trailers and Drake Collectibles. Beginning on the 14 May at Brisbane, the Drake Trailer stand caused a stir with our new extendable 3×4 tilt slide trailer and its 4×4 hybrid steering widener float.

When asked about the innovative design of this new trailer combination that is an exciting development for Australian trailer manufacturers, Drake’s General Manager Khali Lake said, “We think it’s a smart, well-engineered design is targeted at customers that need to transport a diverse range of items. For example, if the customer is working on a private site and needs to move heavy equipment or several items in one load, they can accomplish that.”

Drake Collectibles returned to the Brisbane Convention Centre to show their exciting new C509 Sleeper truck/trailer combinations for the first time anywhere. Collectors queued to see the new die-cast models as well as samples of our upcoming projects, including the steerable trailer and our 1:25 scale plastic model kit.

Trailer fanatics and trailer manufacturers in Brisbane also flocked to our stand to see our visually appealing merchandise, and to check out the strength and quality of our trailers as we gave an audio-visual demonstration while they performed exciting tasks.

“The trailer is a 50-foot extendable, widening tilt slide trailer. It extends out by 4.8m. No other trailer on the market extends that long and it’s a deck-widening trailer that can carry things that are 2.5m wide, and out to 3.2m wide,” said Sam Drake, Drake Trailers’ Business Development Manager.

“The idea behind this piece of equipment is versatility. It caters for long and extended oversize loads, standard drop deck loads, indivisible loads, recovery work, and general heavy haulage equipment. It’s got 7.5 degrees through to 16 degrees loading angle and BPW airbags in axle suspension,” Drake said.

The features of this trailer were designed for Membrey’s Transport and Crane Hire, who required a trailer that could move buses. The Drake tilt slide trailer supports their client’s needs in many ways, which is the strength of the innovative engineering team at Drake Trailers.

The Brisbane show was followed by the Perth Truck and Trailer Show in July. Australian trailer manufacturers were thrilled by the innovative design and strength of our robust and reliable trailers. The Perth show was a great success, with trailer fanatics once again eager to see our products on display. For Perth we demonstrated our legendary 4×4 full widener, the 3×4 dolly that is unique to WA and in a show first, demonstrated the O’Phee BoXLoader following our acquisition of that business.

And it’s no wonder that Perth was enamoured by our exciting new developments in innovative trailer design.

We look forward to the next round of truck and trailer shows next year, where we are sure to show off our latest developments as industry leaders, both in our trailers and in our world-famous Drake Collectible models.
