Whether they are launching a new trailer or winning an award, O’Phee Trailers never fails to impress at The Brisbane Truck Show. While we didn’t have a world premiere of any new trailer products like we did in 2011, we drew a massive crowd to their impressive trailer display.
The business, which is often dubbed “the local hero” now has another award to put on their shelf, winning the Outstanding Trailer/Truck Body Manufacturer Display award for the seventh consecutive year.
Humble as always, Mick O’Phee says it’s an honour to win the award for the seventh time in a row, before drawing attention to the impressive display, mentioning “the vehicles on the stand are the most important thing; not just the presentation alone. “This year’s display saw them showing off their drop decks, container skels and versatile flat top trailers.
The O’Phee’s have been designing and manufacturing semi-trailers for nearly half a century and their name is synonymous with quality. One look at their close-knit team and you can see why they’ve been so successful. Mick and Sharon O’Phee believe that their business is nothing without the valuable team behind it, many of whom have been working for the O’Phee’s for over two decades. This is underpinned in their company slogan “the people who make it, make the difference” and “we mass produce quality”. It’s their dedication to local craftsmanship and desire to build semi-trailers with a difference that makes owning one of their trailers so special.
O’Phee Trailers are proudly Australian-made too, with all trailers manufactured by the brand completely made using Australian steels. Mick O’Phee says the reason behind this is because “Australian steel is known for its high quality and we don’t use any imported steel in our design,” further commenting “in our 40 years of manufacturing we’ve learnt that while you can opt for lighter higher tensile steels, there is a limit and trailers need to be built to cope with the Australian conditions (particularly on Queensland roads). The design is very important, as is longevity, but Safety and Vehicle Performance is paramount” explains Mick.
In 2011, they took on a new venture, going into partnership with French company BoXLoader to design a specialist side loader trailer, which is a point-to-point transportation solution for the containerised market. It’s made with the operator in mind and purpose-built for busy ports, with accurate and safe operational benefits over their competitors.
As of May 2017, O’Phee Trailers became a part of The Drake, combining their many years of trailer experience with Drake Trailers and Drake Collectibles. For all your specialised trailer needs, get in contact with The Drake Group today.
