On Saturday 4th November 2017, the Brisbane Convoy for Kids charity event is set to take place for the eighth consecutive year – and it should be bigger and better than ever before.
In 2016, over 360 trucks and utes took part in the convoy from Brisbane to Redcliffe, 33km to the north. This year, a multitude of heavy transport trailers, including a number from the Drake Group, will once again be travelling up the Logan and Gateway Motorways in convoy to support disabled and disadvantaged children.
Setting off from Heathwood, in the south of Brisbane, at 9 am, the convoy will shoot past several vantage points, including the Hornibrook Esplanade, before arriving at the Redcliffe Showground around 10.30am.
At Redcliffe, the convoy will turn into a truck and ute show, as well as a family fun day, with market stalls, live entertainment, displays and auctions all helping to raise money for charity. There’s even a truck pull competition, while the ‘best-dressed driver’, previous entrants include Superman and the Scooby Doo Mystery Machine gang, also takes home a trophy. Rounding off the night is an explosive firework display.
Tickets for the fun day at Redcliffe can be purchased at the gate, which will open at 10.30am. The prices are as follows: $15 for an adult ticket, $10 for concessions, $5 for children. Family passes can be obtained for $30 and allow entry for two adults and three children, while children under four years of age can get in for free.
All the money raised from the convoy and the family fun day goes to Hummingbird House, Queensland’s only dedicated children’s hospice, providing support, therapy and care for children with terminal illnesses.
For further information about the event, please consult the official Brisbane Convoy for Kids website. trucks, heavy haul trailers or low loader trailers interested in entering the convoy can do so online.
