One of the most popular videos we’ve ever posted to the Drake Group Facebook page this year, if not all time, is this stunning effort from our colleagues at Bower’s Heavy Haulage.
It features not one, not two, but three connected trucks towing or pushing a Drake 12×8 steerable and 2×8 Dolly, which in turn is carrying a 180 tonne load. The total weight of the operation comes to a staggering 300 tonnes.
Or, to put it in another context, 300 tonnes is the same weight of approximately thirty seven Tyrannosaurus Rex. It’s good to know that in case the need arise, The Drake Group’s equipment can carry a movie’s worth of dinosaurs.
It takes a lot of driver skill and coordination to keep this kind of road train running, and the drivers are in constant contact with each other over UHF radio to make sure everything goes to plan in a smooth manner.
Bower’s Heavy Haulage are no strangers to using The Drake Group’s wide range of heavy haulage equipment, with a history going back many years of quality service. Carrying oversized or extraordinary heavy items is a large part of Bower’s day-to-day business so they know the right tools for the job come from The Drake Group. After all, we carried the world’s biggest dozer together.
Reaction to the video has been massive. At the time of writing, it’s garnered over 40,000 likes and been shared over 10,000 times. It’s been so great to see people excited about what The Drake Group’s trailers can do when pushed to the limit.
