At The Drake Group, innovation is part of our DNA. We’ve been designing and manufacturing new types of heavy haulage trailers to meet the needs of the market ever since our founder Colin Drake started the business over 60 years ago. This is why the 5×8 Swingwide Extendable with Rear Steer is such an important milestone.
It’s not a model that would be familiar to the industry, simply because The Drake Group are the first in the business to make one. Among its many features are a hydraulic raise / lower gooseneck and suspension, a drop bed frame for high loads, radio remote-controlled manual steering for increased accessibility and manoeuvrability in tight spots, not to mention self-tracking rear axles to save wear and tear on the rear tyres. This incredible trailer measures 2.7 metres wide all along its long form, and of course is built to handle the exacting demands of Australian roads.
Long-time customer Membrey’s Transport and Crane Hire needed a trailer that gave that something extra and The Drake Group were only too happy to deliver the goods especially for them. Designing this trailer was a challenge that our in-house team of designers rose to in commendable fashion and we look forward to seeing what new innovations the team come up with next.
Like The Drake Group, Membrey’s Transport and Crane Hire is a family owned and operated business that has been going strong for decades. The company runs out of Dandenong in Victoria but services the entire country with an office running out of Southport in Queensland.
It didn’t take long before pictures of the impressive dark green trailer paired with its similarly-branded Kenworth heading down to Victoria were being posted on social media, with tremendous response from everyone who saw them.
We’re grateful to Membrey’s for the opportunity to break new ground with this model and can’t wait to see what’s next. Talk to The Drake Group today about our wide range of custom and standard heavy haulage trailers built for any job.
