Telescopic trailers: The finer details
This Telescopic Extendable Steerable trailer is a multiple extendable section with a closed length of 15 metres and an extended section reaching out to 45 metres. It has a 15 to 50 tonne capacity.
The frame on this unit is impressive and comes ready for action, with an array of great features. It’s available in a level deck and drop deck – depending on your needs – and has certified tie die points integrated into the trailer deck and frame, as well as stainless steel hydraulic tubing. Finished with a checker plate floor for sturdy grip, this trailer is also built from high quality Australian, Japanese, and Swedish Steel.
With a range of optional extras, you can be certain the Telescopic Extendable Steerable is built for your unique business needs. If you require a custom-build on this product, we offer wind down landing legs, various deck configurations and lengths including stage positioning, decks with load rack pocket facilities, and drop-in inserts on the extendable deck.
Naturally, we designed our telescopic trailers to include optimal safety features. Depending on your needs you can choose from a 3X4 or 4X4 configuration. Included in the standard axle and suspension features is skid plated activated steering, manual steering, airbag suspension, height control valves, and air suspension which allows the trailer to be either raised or lowered as a unit.

The Telescopic Extendable Steerable is another superior addition to the Drake Trailers steerable trailer range, with many of our customers utilising this trailer for some of Australia’s biggest projects.
In 2016, Toll Group needed a solution to transport 64 super-size wind turbine blades from the port of Geelong all the way to the Mount Mercer Wind Farm – 70km away.
The job required challenging logistics and relied upon rigorous safety management and quality compliance from all parties. Naturally, Drake Trailers was up to the task. The trailer for Toll Group extended to its full 45 metre limit to cater to the long turbines. Over 60 personnel were dedicated to the transportation process, over a nine month long turbine install.
