At The Drake Group, our large team could be working on up to 20 heavy haulage trailers at any given time. That’s why it’s nice to take a moment to recognise some of the amazing results and happy customers who get to drive away with a schmick new float.
Our customer in focus for this month includes a Quad Steering Widener for local Brisbane company Ellis Consolidated.
Ellis Consolidated have been around for 20 years, providing pavement profiling, shoulder paving, road stabilising and surface mining to the Queensland market. To move from work-site to work-site in the most efficient and safe way, Ellis Consolidated needed a trailer built with customised asphalt spec ramps – approx. 9-degree angle – to load up their profiler equipment including milling machines (front and rear loaders), bobcats as well as shoulder paving and stabilising machines.
A look at what the steering widener can do
The Drake Steering Widener has all the benefits of our ever-popular Deck Widener, but with improved stability, manoeuvrability and extended tyre life – perfect for an urban-based customer who needs to navigate tight corners and spaces.
All our trailers are Australian designed, owned and made, so you can guarantee that we’ll build them to last for the Australian conditions. This model has a 35-50 tonne capacity, 2.5M to 3.5M hydraulic widening and comes with a range of customisable options including:
- Extendable and drop-bed frames
- Hydraulic gooseneck
- Lay flat forward ramps
- Ramp props
- Swing out ramps
Safety is also one of our biggest priorities at each stage of the manufacturing process, so we’ve included the following safety features in our Steering Widener:
- Electronic Braking System featuring roll stability and ABS
- Hydraulic suspension for optimised stability
- 8 position sliding skid plate which is fitted as a standard
Ellis Consolidated chose The Drake Group for their Deck Widener because of their renowned commitment to quality and reliability with trailers that are built to last. We’re proud to have built this customised deck widener trailer for the asphalt industry and Ellis Consolidated.
