Our Customer in Focus ths month is one of our recent deliveries included one of the most sought-after trailers in the construction transport market, the 5X8 Drake Swing Wing, destined to work on some of the largest suburban development projects in the country as part of the JK Williams fleet, the Sydney-based construction contractor.
We always enjoy working with JK Williams and our relationship goes back to 1973, when the company ordered their first Drake float. We also share a birthday – with both family-owned companies starting out in 1958.
Like Drake Trailers, JK Williams is a company that has survived and thrived due to its quick adoption of best-practice processes and technologies. As well as their new 5X8 Drake Swing Wing, the construction company recently invested in a new MM GPS Slipform Paver – Australia’s first.
The new addition to the JK Williams fleet will be put to work across any number of bulk earthworks and road construction projects.
The 5X8 Swing Wing is a fully customisable low loader that features:
- Stainless steel hydraulic tubing
- Hydraulic controlled ramps
- Two horizontal spare tyre carriers
- 5.5HP pull start hydraulic power pack
- LED lighting
- Drop legs
- Rear push point
- Dunnage trays and lockable tool boxes
Key to the Swing Wing’s popularity as a construction trailer is its hydraulic widening capacity. The deck of the Swing Wing widens from either 2.5m or 2.7m to 4.27m or 4.6m – using Drake’s unique ‘Swing Wing’ widening system. The decks of all Drake Trailers Swing Wings are manufactured using high tensile quenched and tempered steel frames, using only Australian, Japanese and Swedish steel – cut using HD plasma or laser cutting.
Repeat orders from long-term customers, such as JK Williams confirm that a Drake Trailer is a quality investment, built to last and supported by a superior level of after-sales service and spare parts.
