Here at Drake Trailers, we love to support young Australian talent and our latest signing is Tyler Gavin, a 15-year-old currently competing in Junior Dragster Australia.
Who is Tyler Gavin?
Gavin, from Western Australia, has been challenging nationally since 2010 in the event and can now count on the backing of Australia’s top trailer manufacturers as he seeks to cement a position on the podium.
Junior Dragster is intended for Australian drivers under the age of 18 and racers compete in scaled-down replicas of top fuel dragsters, which can still hit speeds in excess of 100 km/h.
Gavin, who hopes to join the professional drag racing ranks when he gets a little older, first came to prominence at the age of 10, taking part in the Winter Nationals competition in Queensland.
Since then, the young petrolhead has gone from strength to strength, zooming around the tracks of Western Australia in his racer, branded with his memorable racing number: 8888.
Why are Drake Trailers throwing their hat in the ring?
Drake Trailers’ CEO, John Drake, is delighted to sponsor the teenager, and notes that family connections helped secure his company’s sponsorship of Gavin’s racer.
“We first heard of Tyler through our long-term customer, Gavin Transport, from Western Australia. Our sponsorship of Tyler is therefore partly in recognition of this loyalty, and also because we believe in Tyler’s ability.
“As an Australian innovator ourselves, we love seeing others out there doing something a little different. Tyler’s practically been in this game since he could walk and talk, and he’s going to go far in drag racing, I’m sure.”
