The second half of the year is shaping up to be a busy one with an increased number of recent deliveries rolling out the door. From standard designs to intricate custom builds, we’re focusing on two of our most popular deliveries that garnered a fair bit of attention over on our Facebook page.
The first is another Drake Trailer addition for Doolans Heavy Haulage; this time adding a 7X8 Steerable Lowloader to their fleet. The second is a fully-customised Quad Deck Widener for our ongoing customer Morris Heavy Logistics.
New Steerable Platform for Doolans Heavy Haulage
Doolan’s Heavy Haulage is the specialists in heavy haulage transport for the mining and heavy industry, as well as major special projects around the country. They’ve been a long-time customer of Drake Trailers and our much-valued relationship even lead to a diecast model of their Swing Wing Trailer complete with a Kenworth T908 back in 2012.
It was only this time last year that Doolan’s Heavy Haulage added a Full Widener to their fleet. This time around, they’ve opted for a 7X8 Steerable Low Loader trailer.
It’s designed to make light work of heavy equipment, with rows of eight tyres and an extendable platform which reaches from 18.5 metres to 27.3 metres in a matter of minutes as well as hydraulic widening which expands from 3.2 metres or 3.35 metres to 4.88 metres. Made only from Australian, Swedish and Japanese steel, all components of the frame deck are cut with HD plasma or laser ensuring a smooth and solid finish.
Other benefits of this trailer include:
- The ability to raise and lower the deck with exact precision – even if it’s a millimetre
- Hydraulic powered ramps for optimal driver control
- Two horizontal spare tyre carriers, which are essential for when working in isolated areas
- Weight capacity reaching 80 up to 300 tonnes
The ever popular with a custom twist
Quad Deck Wideners are maintaining their popularity through August, with Morris Heavy Logistics (MHL) needing another workhorse to meet their demands. This is a highly customised trailer to suit the nature of MHL’s industry and we are extremely proud of the finished product.

- Auto return to ride height
