With demand for wind farming equipment increasing across the country, safe and easy transportation of these large devices becomes an increasing concern. Enter Drake Trailer’s new Drake Trail King 76t Schnable Gooseneck System, which facilitates crane-less loading and unloading of wind farming equipment.
Gooseneck fittings are designed to attach to the middle of a flat tray of the carrying vehicle, allowing for increased weight loads and, crucially, tighter cornering as the pivot point is closer to the centre of the vehicle.
The gooseneck is lowered into the correct position by hydraulic cylinders which also tilt to accommodate the wind tower’s inner flange. The cylinders are also used to lift the wind tower into the correct position to disengage from the pivoting tower.
Front and rear schnable feature a 4.72m long base gooseneck, including a 810mm long flip section, turn buckle style safety brackets and high strength low temperature rated compression pad.
“Combined with optional features such as a radio remote controlled hydraulic raise and lower gooseneck, drop bed frame, rear self steering axle and lay flat ramps, this trailer allows the customer to carry and manoeuvre comprehensive loads including buses, site huts, switch rooms and other complex loads,” says Marketing Coordinator Bruce Hay.
