Drake Collectibles praised by world renowned model review site Cranes Etc

Collecting die-cast models is a serious business so when one of the world’s leading scale models experts reviews the National Heavy Haulage Drake Collectibles Steerable Trailer and the National Heavy Haulage Kenworth C509 Prime Mover, we pay attention.

Here’s a summary of what internationally renowned die cast scale models  modelling expert, Ian Webb of Cranes Etc, had to say about the Drake Collectibles  7X8 Steerable Trailer with a 2X8 Dolly, and the Kenworth C509 – both of which are fully decked out with National Heavy Haulage livery.

The 7X8 Steerable Trailer

The packaging and detail for the Drake Collectibles National Heavy Haulage steerable trailer got the thumbs up, with Ian saying that the model arrived in a presentation-quality Drake-branded box, with no missing parts or defects, protected by high quality foam rubber. In terms of detail, the all-metal and smooth deck were singled out for praise as well as:

“It is very detailed, with more spare wheels, and it has really nice Drake nameplates. There is a generator with opening covers on top, and opening covers provide highly detailed steering and gooseneck controls.  The detailing of the steering controls is excellent with tiny legible graphics.”

The same consistent Drake quality

Cranes Etc’s overall comments commended the quality of the 7X8 Steerable and his final score for the model was 87/100 – a three-star “Outstanding” score. Cranes Etc added:

“The final model is excellent with some top quality detailing, particularly on the gooseneck. The optional accessory set enables a huge 12X8 trailer to be displayed.”

The Drake Collectibles Kenworth C509

The score from Cranes Etc for the National Heavy Haulage Kenworth C509 was exactly the same, scoring a 87/100. According to Ian’s review, the standout features of the Kenworth prime mover included

  • Highly detailed chassis
  • Detailed wheels complete with flexible rubber mud flaps
  • Tilting bull-bar to allow the hood to fully open
  • Opening cab doors and moveable air ride action seats

Ian’s review also praised the Kenworth’s meticulous detailing:

“At the front is a nice metal bull-bar and the radiator grille behind is excellent. The cab has a mass of detailed chrome work. Under the cab is a detailed engine, modelled with many separate components including hoses and cables. The interior is also very good.”

“This a very high quality model and it upholds the reputation of Drake Collectibles for making some the best truck models manufactured.”
