Drake Trailers celebrates 50 years

For 50 years, Drake Trailers has been building some of the toughest heavy-duty trailers on the market. With a focus on quality, innovation and reliability, each of our trailers is designed to tackle the harshest conditions that this country has to offer.

To mark our 50th year in heavy haulage trailer manufacturing, Drake Trailers is proud to unveil a new logo. The new orange, blue and grey logo features the word ‘Drake’ with a Perentie standing proudly on top.

As a symbol of the strength present in all of our trailers, the new logo features a low, lean and tough Perentie. Native to Australia, the Perentie is the country’s largest Monitor lizard and is featured above the Drake name. Able to thrive in blisteringly harsh environments, we think that nothing comes close to the Perentie in terms of strength and resilience. Like our trailers, it is perfectly engineered to the Australian environment.

New trailers for new markets

This year has also seen the introduction of several new and innovative models that are set to conquer an even greater variety of challenges.

For instance, supporting the emerging wind farm market Drake Trailers has launched a new extendable steerable trailer, which has three sections that extends to over 45 meters. It is the first fully automated steering telescopic trailer to be built in Australia. Also supporting this market is our new extendable, semi modular steerable platform trailer, which has been designed to carry wind tower sections and vessels.

To support the still booming mining sector, Drake Trailers has also launched a range of new smaller capacity mine site trailers designed to carry dozers, drills and various on-site equipment with capacities up to 200 tonne. They feature access ladders, walkways, radio controlled hydraulic suspension and loading ramps, and auto greasing for ease of maintenance. Working closely with mine operators such as Pilbara Iron and equipment suppliers including Westrac and Haulmax, we’ve already received excellent feedback.

A new steering widener range in 3×4 and 4×4 configurations has also been introduced. With capacities of up to 50 tonne, these units combine regular self-tracking axles with fully widening axles to create a highly manoeuvrable and stable low loader. It is well suited to both local delivery and long distance heavy haulage.
