A world before Covid-19 seems like a lifetime ago, but in reality, has only been a few months! Prior to lockdown and social distancing practices, The Drake Group received a school visit from the Australian Industry Trade College – Years 10 through 12 – which gives aspiring trades workers an exposure to a quality and exciting manufacturing industry for future apprenticeships.
The students were taken for an in-depth tour throughout our Brisbane trailer manufacturing facility, with a step-by-step process of how each trailer is built, from the sales process through to the design, engineering and build, and the finishing touches. There was plenty of opportunity for real-world activities and Q&A sessions with our team.
The Australian Industry Trade College is an innovative and valuable senior school program that allows students to begin an apprenticeship in their final years of school. With over 600 apprenticeships and traineeships to choose from, their programs focus on development of character, academic and enterprise skills and industry readiness, while boosting employability. Australian Industry Trade College seamlessly blends senior education and vocational training to engage young people in purpose-built trade experiences in line with industry standards.
Everyone here at The Drake Group loves conducting these school visits and we can’t wait to restart welcoming students once the restrictions are lifted. For information about apprenticeships at The Drake Group, get in touch with us today on 07 3271 5888.
