This is something we share in common with our customer in focus, VE Group. The team recently approached Drake Service & Repairs for a full trailer refurbishment of a Howell family heirloom.
VE Group: From Humble Beginnings to Full Service Earthmoving and Bulk Haulage
VE Group was founded by Nathan and Bronwen Howell in 2006, but you might say the vision began a long time before this.
The transport and earthmoving business is in Nathan’s blood. He enjoyed a childhood in the trucks driven by his father Neil, who owned and operated a heavy haulage transport business with Neil’s wife Lyn. Nathan recalls battling with his siblings for the chance to ride in the trucks with his dad.
Nathan started out his career in mining, but felt compelled to return to his roots. So he and his wife started their own family business, originally called Valley Excavations Qld.
From humble beginnings, the company grew in size and in business focus. VE Group is now an ISO Accredited Civil Construction, Bulk and Heavy Haulage Company with a team of 80 people, 30 Kenworth trucks and 35+ plant and machinery units.
Working out of Riverview and Moura, the company services basically everywhere around Queensland and NSW and offer customers a complete service package.
Drake Service & Repairs 30-year-old VE Group Trailer Refurbishment
A few years back, Nathan and Bronwen decided to track down the original three axle tag low loader trailer that Nathan’s parents originally bought in the ‘80s. They found the old girl still working hard in the Central Queensland township of Banana.
In 2021, the Howells decided it was time to give this old trailer a makeover. With a Drake Full Widener and Deck Widener in their fleet, and a pair of Drake dollies, the Howells decided to enlist the help of Drake Service and Repairs to restore their old girl to her former glory.
